It's said that the first page secures the reader for this story, and the last page will sell your next. Everything in between ensures they have a fantastic reading experience. In these intimate, personalized sessions, we’re not working on concepts – we’re working on your books!
Each session will review the essential elements in the given genre; the word author is tied to authority, of course, and we want to make sure you authoritatively invite your reader into a complete, complex, and resonant book. You’ll send a short synopsis, outline, and the first five pages of your book to me a month ahead of class. I’ll review the work carefully, make notes, and retain a copy before returning it to you.
In class, we’ll discuss the critical elements, why they need to be included in your book, and give a brief overview of their placement – macrostructure. We’ll learn when to stick with the rules and when you can bend them. How do you structure your book while keeping creative joy? Come learn how! Class size limited to preserve intimacy and effectiveness. Please bring your laptop and/or a notebook.
